Newbie to EstripCategory: newbie
I found Estrip from an article on
The Ledges in VT by Paul, since I'll be doing a photography session for a client/friend there later this summer & knew nothing about the place. Thanks to Paul's post & photos, I now can't wait to go.
I decided to join Estrip, but I have to say, despite my years as a computer professional, I'm LOST. How do I change my avatar pic, are there required size standards, does this site assume I'm part of Google Cloud, and is this service for only Buffalo, NY members?
So far I'm enjoying exploring everyone else's posts, great reads & quality photo-journalism styles. I don't normally need hand-holding to figure out how a site or service works, but...ok, I'm admitting that I could use a few hints, at least ;)

Ya you can blog from wherever. Did you try and paste HTML in the comment box tiny?

Damn, (e:Paul) beat me to it - but welcome to (e:strip) and ask away! Once the avatar bug is fixed (nudge nudge, (e:Paul)) you can upload any size avatars really. But the system squishes them so the optimal size is 125px X 150px. You can change your avatar by clicking on your avatar and then clicking the upload button.
We are all mostly neighbours in Buffalo but I don't think I will stop journalling/blogging if I move away, so it is for everyone. :) The server resides down the street in the basement of a mansion (E:Strip):-In-the-light-and-in-the-dark!.html" class="blank" title="http://estrip.org/articles/read/tinypliny/54015/(E:Strip):-In-the-light-and-in-the-dark!.html">:::link:::

The Entire I'm right here thing is pretty cool..... But in that entire Big Brother we know right where you are thing is kinda scary in a way to..... This reminds me one these days I really need to get one of these cool phones.....
It looks like overhead view of my block in Chestertown, NY, but Broadalbin Village Clerk, that's near Albany I think! So google map is confused about what the name of that place is, the rest looks correct. But location said only within 96,000 feet (what is that in miles? lol). The cross streets are Rt. 9, Riverside Dr. (mine) & Riverside St., Rt. 9 AKA Main St. here.
Wait, where IS that?! I don't recognize ANY of those names. But then I only know the names of streets in a 3 mi radius around my flat (sometimes I am stumped even there...)
When you click the location button, you need to leave the [location]....[/location] info in the blog entry to have the map load.
Eh? Did you mean to post your location?
It's only off by about 200 feet, not bad. Just moved here June 3, 2011.
